What Our Past Participants Are Saying

"The trip to Umbria & Tuscany is one I'll remember for the rest of my life. The chance to see Italy from a perspective few tourists enjoy was wonderful — as were the Italian people and the incredible scenery."
— M. Thompson, Palmdale

Anders Zorn was born in Mora, Sweden on Feb. 18, 1860. He died in Mora, Aug. 22, 1920. During his lifetime, Anders Zorn was a very successful artist. He was ambitious in building up collections of art and cultural history objects. The majority of Zorn?s work from his time at the academy is done in watercolor. Most of the paintings are portraits, but several landscapes and scenes depicting village life, in the lake Siljan area, are also included in the works from this period.

Hanging in the Sorolla museum in Madrid is Zorn?s portrait of his Spanish friend and colleague. Sorolla published a short, but greatly appreciating article about his friend Zorn in April 1903.

Zorn visited America and did more than 100 portrait commissions here, including two U. S. Presidents.
