Carl Larsson (1853 - 1919) is known for his scenes of rural domesticity. His watercolors sing the praises of the happy home and family life. He grew up in deprivation and poverty and his art reflects his yearning for a life of idyllic contentment. The clich? that an artist is rarely recognized in his own lifetime is often proved untrue and this is especially so of Carl Larsson.

For he was recognized and rightly so, in his own country where his work has been enjoyed by Swedish people of all ages over a period of seventy-five years.

Carl Larsson?s paintings can be found in the art collection at the Anders Zorn museum in Mora, Sweden and the Stockholm Art Museum in Sweden.
