About the Tour:
Join Glenn Vilppu and Personalized Travel for an adventure to capture in sketches, watercolors, photographs & fabulous experiences. This will be an itinerary to remember forever!
The Sicilians say "first I am Sicilian, second I am European and third I am Italian". Does that say it all? Intriguing names of places such as Palermo, Monreale, Cefalu, Agrigento, the Valley of Temples, Syracuse, Noto, Island of Ortygia, Erice, Marsala, Trapani, Mount Etna and Taormina will all come to life, woven together in a tapestry of discovery for twelve days in May, 2011.
Together we will visit a medieval hill town on one of the highest mountains in Sicily where their "cottage business" is making and serving pastries ... including the famous cannoli. Travel the "salt road" of Trapani and sketch the evocative windmills there ... taste the two most famous dessert wines of Marsala ─ one "ambra" (gold) and the other "rubino" (red). You can sketch and paint your way through the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento and listen to the haunting voice of our professional guide Laura as she takes us into the cave known as: "The Ear of Dionysius".
Be amazed at the Baroque architecture on the Island of Ortygia near Syracuse. You will "go beyond" your perceptions of Palermo as you encounter Monreale Cathedral as it was the pinnacle of achievement of Arab-Norman art.
The food ... the antiquity ... the history & stunning, sweeping ocean panoramas make this trip "an itinerary not to be missed".
The Cost of the trip is $4,495 … less the “Early Bird Special” as described below A $300 deposit check, per person, will hold a space for you. ─ CARPE DIEM ... Seize the Day.
We almost forgot to mention our Jeep trip to Mount Etna culminating with a wine tasting and a farm house lunch at the winery. Also, our Sicilian Cooking Class is optional ... but if you send in your deposit check before Dec. 31, 2010 you will have the choice of $100 off the cost of the trip - or - a free cooking class (value $145) with lunch served, just after the class.
P. S. Glenn Vilppu will conduct workshops and demonstrations, on location, during our itinerary. Personalized attention is always given to each participant on Glenn's tours and this is your opportunity to work side-by-side with "the Maestro".
Non-Artists will be guided by Roberta Kritzia to special places that will keep you truly mesmerized.
